"I am a self-taught artist and have lived in Bridport for the last ten years. As I drive around Dorset for my work I am constantly wondering how I can render the landscape in paint.

I am preoccupied with capturing the texture of the things that I see around me: rust, rock, rope, fossils, clouds, bark, fields. I prefer to use watercolour – I love that it has a mind of its own. However, it is essentially quite a flat medium, so I use selective acrylic gesso under-painting to give it greater depth and occasionally acrylic or gold ink to add another dimension."

Directions
From central Bridport, head down West Street, and then take the 2nd exit on the 2nd round about up North Allington. Allington Mead is 1/2 a mile further up.
