Alessandro Botto / Painter / Web

Unit 11 , St Michael's Trading Estate

Alessandro Botto studied architecture at the catholic University of America in Washington D.C. and completed a masters degree in industrial design at Pratt Institute in New York. He started painting in New York city, where he also worked as an architect for several years before moving to London in 2005. He also lived and worked as a designer in Copenhagen and Milan, cities from where he drew inspiration for his work.

His paintings aim at materialising the relationship between beauty and chaos through the analysis of balance, velocity, movement and the hierarchy of elements within a composition. By creating primary, secondary and subordinate elements in a painting, he visually stimulates the viewer and guides the eye through the movement of the elements in the canvas.
