In 1975, Alan Hussey opened his first workshop in Walberswick, Suffolk, in the garage of the house once owned by Fra Newbery of Bridport and frequented by Charles Rennie Mackintosh who had inspired him at college. He works now in a contemporary minimal zen style influenced by George Nakashima and the Shakers, with bleached washable surfaces, in the tradition of the old school of Morris, Gimson and the Barnsleys.
